Meet the Hosts
Cedric Spencer is a life-long Christian who was raised up in his great-grandmother’s church and eventually learned to love the word of God with the level of passion similar to which he was being taught. His mother, whom he describes as a voracious learner and student in general, approached the Word with “passion and vigor” and encouraged him to seek out someone with rabbinical understanding to learn the cultural contexts of the text he was reading.
Roy Keiningham is a Messianic Jew who grew up believing in the concept of God, but not Jesus. He converted to Christianity with his wife during the prosperity gospel era and struggled to find connection and fellowship with other Christians due to his desire to find more than just blessing and salvation. Over the years, he continued to seek out an answer to the question, “who is Jesus?” He struggled to find an answer in the church, so he continued searching until he found himself preferring, for some time, to attend synagogue. He attended a Yeshivah to study Jewish thought and the Hebrew language, and over time, he began to reconcile Yeshua Hamashiach (Jesus, the Messiah) with God Himself.
Roy and Cedric met through the church that they both worked for, though they worked on different campuses. Cedric’s experience was in IT and social media web development, but had been asked to move into the video department after some overlap became apparent in his social media role. In his training, he found that he would need some additional help with live streaming in particular, as he wanted to lead his campus “in a way that ultimately served God well.” So, he visited the corporate headquarters, where he met Roy, who had nearly 30 years of media experience, and volunteered to come out to Cedric’s campus and assist with training.
It was during this time that they began discussing scripture and Torah with each other. After Roy’s assistance was no longer needed at Cedric’s campus, they continued to meet over the years to study together, do deep dives into Torah, and exchange thought processes between Christianity and Judaism.
